2008-04-03 17:26 - Husband Saves Wife During Croc Attack in Litchfield NP

Saltwater Crocodiles are definitely a concern when visiting the tropical northern regions of Australia during and shortly after the wet season - especially near waterways of both Litchfield National Park and Kakadu National Park. In a fortuitous escape thanks to the heroics of a husband who saved his wife from being death-rolled in Litchfield (a place we're quite familiar with as there are heaps of waterfalls there), this story illustrates the nature of the danger and precautions one needs to take when near such watercourses. Indeed, the authorities aren't kidding when they close areas and post signs regarding the croc danger. [read more]

2008-04-17 23:49 - Peru is next

Next up on our waterfall hunt around the world is Peru. Besides the usual attraction of Cuzco and Machu Picchu, we're also headed to northern Peru to visit La Catarata Gocta. Hopefully the weather cooperates and clouds won't be obscuring one of the world's tallest permanent falls. Stay tuned for updates related to this latest adventure...

On another note, Earth Day arrives on April 22. No, we won't be home to participate in it, but then again, conservation is something that needs to be part of our everyday lives (beyond the designated day).

2008-04-29 10:44 - Back from Peru

Yesterday, we came back from a trip that had it all - food poisoning, coming down with a nasty cold, broken camera, uncooperative weather, road closures, scary moments on the road, you name it! Of course, it also featured Machu Picchu, Sacred Valley, Cusco, the Amazon Rainforest, Catarata Gocta, lots of Spanish, good company, and a few surprises here and there. Indeed it was a trip that opened our eyes as well as humbled us.

I'm in the middle of trying to recover from a crashed hard disk as well as fighting off this cold I got from Peru. Hopefully, the website can be updated in the near future to include this latest adventure. If not, look for Peru-related updates as well as those from the upcoming blockbuster trip to Africa in the July/August timeframe.
