Bishop Falls and Beadon Falls are two impressively tall falls within the city limits of Shillong that managed to maintain good flow (which really surprised us especially considering how unimpressive many of the ones in the Cherrapunjee area were during our trip). Even though it did seem like we could get closer to the falls on the other side of the deep ravine, we were content to look at these waterfalls from across this ravine.
Of the two falls, we were more impressed with Bishop Falls since it seemed to have a more continuous drop. We were only able to see parts of the Beadon Falls coming down in disjoint cascades, but we did see a steep walking path alongside parts of this waterfall. I think the overgrowth of the vegetation in front of us and closer to the falls itself also made this waterfall hard to see.
As you can see from the last photograph below, morning is not a good time to see the falls as the hazy environment combined with the harsh front lit conditions from looking against the sun made photographing (let alone seeing) the falls pretty suboptimal. By the same token, the other photos down below were taken in the late afternoon right around sunset whe neverything was in shadow. Although this time of day was a little better than morning, I'm guessing that optimal lighting occurs some time during midday or early afternoon.
Directions: We were a little bit disoriented while we were being driven around Shillong, but we think this waterfall was situated on a side street towards the north end of town. We stopped at a viewing area next to some power lines by this side street. The driver knew where to go, but without someone who knew the area, I wasn't so sure how we would've been able to find this one otherwise.
We spent about 50 minutes of driving between our hotel in Shillong and this waterfall, but I swear most of that time was due to the traffic in the city.
