A bone to Pick

A bone to Pick

There's a scene near the beginning of the Hallmark movie "A Bone to Pick". It shows a street with a waterfall in the background. Does anyone know where it is? I've attached a screen shot. Thanks

Thank goodness

As soon as I saw the waterfall I had to pause the TV. I called my husband in to look at it with me. It took my breath away. I asked him "do you really think such a place exists?" We both concluded it was too perfect looking and had to have been cgi'd or something. I immediately tried searching on the internet to find it and couldn't but decided I would put it on my bucket list and continue my search. Then on tonight's episode I saw the Lawrenceton water tower which is the only thing I've had to go on so I gave it another shot and found this group, also looking for the location of the breathtaking waterfall town. This is what I love about the internet.

Montour Falls, NY
by: Carolyn

When the movie opened I did a double take immediately thinking it was Montour Falls, NY. Then later in the movie there is a shot of Montour House. That is definitely in Montour Falls. We had our boat at Watkins Glen just north of Montour Falls so I recognized it right away.

Correction of the river between Washington & Oregon
by: Wolfie

Someone posted Willamette river is between Oregon and Washington, and that isn't true. The Mighty Columbia river between Oregon and Washington State. Willamette is between Downtown West side of Portland vs. East side of Portland but goes south to Eugene Oregon and runs North into Columbia river. Thanks local native of Washington and lived most of my life in Oregon.

My Mom called it!
by: Diana

We are from Lodi, NY which is near Montour Falls so we've seen it many times and my Mom knew it had to be that. I think it's filmed near Spokane though.

Location of fictional Lawrenceton
by: Anonymous

Although Oregon was mentioned once or twice in the films, I believe the fictional setting is Eastern Washington, near the Cascades. There've been occasional references in the films to people moving from Seattle to Lawrenceton and vice versa. In Julius House, the missing family had allegedly gone to Spokane for dinner. That's not feasible from Oregon. Also in Julius House, road trips to Vancouver, WA, were accomplished within a couple of hours. Vancouver is located just over the bridge across the Willamette River, the border between OR & WA.

Only in the movies
by: Anonymous

This reminds me of the movie of Sleepless In Seattle where Tom Hanks supposedly rows a boat from Alki Point to his houseboat on Lake Union. Although not impossible, it's not something one would want to attempt in a row boat. I would venture to say it would probably 20-30 miles if not more.

Opening
by: Debbie

After the waterfall scene, there's a scene with a clock. The clock has "New Buffalo" printed on it. I think it's pretty clear that they've spliced together several different towns to create their vision of the town that Aurora Teagarden lives in.

Julius house episode
by: Anonymous

I noticed in Julius
House, as well,Washington state license plates. Lawrenceton is supposed to be in Georgia, but the episode has them traveling to spokane, Wa. They present the distance as being a short drive. There is no way they did that drive from Georgia. ...confused viewer.

Interesting locations
by: Anonymous

All though the episodes are filmed in BC, it is interesting to see the cars used, they have Washington license plates....you can see it in the beginning of the Julius House movie on the Audi that her mother drives.
Do they film in Washington as well?

A place to retire?
by: John & Bonnie

We watch all of the Teagarden mysteries. After living in burned out California for the last 20 something years, I would love to move someplace like Montour Falls. Retirement is coming up, it is definitely on my list of places to visit while trying to find a place to retire.

Opening scene in Aurora Teagarden's mysteries
by: Judy

I,too, grew up in Montour Falls,NY and knew that opening scene in the Aurora Teagarden mysteries had to be the Main Street. How exciting to see your hometown in a movie. Why don't you say where scene is in your credits?

A Must See
by: PA Visitor

Everytime I watched an episode of Aurora Teagarden I would think that sure looks like Montour Falls. I just had to search it on internet and I was right. Living just over the border in PA we have made many trips to Watkins Glen and always go through Montour Falls to see and hear the natural beauty set at the end of the street. Glorious

Montour Falls
by: Anonymous

I grew up in Montour Falls and KNEW it had to have been filmed there but was confused by the rest of the films location shots. I haven't been there in 30 years but that was etched in my memory, the library is right there on right side of main street .I used to spend a lot of time there as a child!

Town and Falls in Your Home State
by: Wendy (Oregon)

Hi Joe, While the movie was filmed in Squamish and Maple Ridge, BC near Whistle (an area w/ multiple waterfalls including Brandywine, Shannon and Alexander), that scene is of Main Street in Montour Falls, NY. The falls are Shequaga Falls (Chequaga Falls) which can be viewed from main street; the scene is real, not computerized, like many people believe.
