Of all Australia Waterfalls, Millaa Millaa Falls could very well have graced more calendars, posters, and post cards than any other. There's something to be said about colorful tropical foliage surrounding the 20m or so falls. Apparently tour companies think so too because you're likely to be sharing the falls with tourists from tour vans and buses as well as with locals. The falls is the first (or last depending on which direction you go) along the 17km Waterfall Circuit. However, there are plenty more waterfalls in the Atherton Tablelands region surrounding this circuit, and it could easily take more than a day to see as many of the falls as you can. Nonetheless, this one is arguably the most scenic of all the waterfalls in this waterfall-laden region. It's no doubt the most popular as sometimes people come here to swim. If the sun is out, the best time to photograph the waterfall is probably at midday (around noon) because the shadows have minimal effect at this time. The photo you see above was taken at that time. At any other time, shadows creep in and compromise the quality of your shot in one way or another. Of course if it's cloudy, then you can do all sorts of things with the falls given the even lighting.
