Burney Falls - Burney, California

by David Blackley
(Colorado Springs, CO)

Burney Falls

Burney Falls

Hello

Glad to know there are waterfall lovers like myself. I am enjoying the website.

I thought I would post to you a picture of a waterfall in California that is northwest of Tahoe. It is called Burney Falls. I did not see it on the web site and thought I would give you the heads up so that if you are traveling through there you could stop by.

I am not sure how I got wind of it, but we drove through the night from Colorado Springs to see it because did not want to mess with the rest of family vacation plans.

The water fall has two main falls that come over the top and the rest of the falls are come through old lava tubes.

I have included the one with my wife and I for scale for you.

Hope you'll get to see it sometime.

Dave

Burney Falls

There is a large campground at the falls. A short trail that loops around and comes out over the falls. The flow over the falls never changes. It's constant year round. The river flows from the falls to a lake below the campground. There are also Bald Eagles and chalk mines.

Worth the trip!
by: Tina

I was there in August 2009, it was absolutely amazing! I am disabled, unable to walk distances so I was going to stay at the top of the concrete path & let my friends & son head down to the bottom.

My son came back up & told me I just HAD to walk down. I did it for him, but was so glad I did. I can't wait to go again!

If you are anywhere in the area, it is well worth stopping. I could have stayed there all day! It's an easy drive from the Mount Shasta area which is where we were camping.
