Mildred Falls

The ephemeral Mildred Falls

Mildred Falls is an ephemeral waterfall that flows only immediately after a rain storm or on a hot day immediately after a snow storm. It's not a waterfall you'd go out of your way to see, but it is a bonus as it's on the way to
Cedar Creek Falls.

In our particular situation, we managed to see the falls two days after a freak Valentine's Day snow storm in 2008. There was still snow remaining in the town of Julian and through much of Eagle Peak, but the access roads from Julian (via Pine Hill Road and Eagle Peak Road) were still passable to passenger cars (albeit a little muddy and snowy in patches).

If you're fortunate enough to be able to time your trip after a storm and see this roughly 200ft waterfall, you'll be able to see it not far from the car park at the junction of the Eagle Peak Road and the unmaintained (closed when we were there) Cedar Creek Road. The views of the falls improves as you continue to descend the trail towards Cedar Creek Falls.
