Trail Canyon Falls is probably the prettiest local waterfall I've seen. However, even for a local waterfall, it takes a little work to see this little beauty. Getting the view you see above requires a little bit of scrambling, but it's well worth it.Located in the rugged foothill mountains near Sunland (I-210 exit at Sunland Blvd), you'll have to work your way through a residential area before entering a mountain road (Big Tujunga Canyon Rd) entering the Angeles National Forest. There will be a dirt road, where it can be scary to drive as it has deep ruts, but I think most passenger cars should have no problem if you take it slow. Once you get to the car park, it's a 4-mile round trip hike with modest uphill climbing. The official trail takes you to the top of the falls with limited partial views of that waterfall along the way. However, a steep scramble (reasonably doable, but not for everyone) down a gully takes you to the base of the waterfall, where there is a pleasant little cove and the views are infinitely better.
