Dave,
Niagara Falls (the collective name of three waterfalls) is the largest waterfall by volume in the U.S.; however it isn't fully contained in the U.S. It straddles the international border between America and Canada. Since we share it w/ Canada, it isn't considered fully contained in the U.S.
The three waterfalls are the Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls. The Horseshoe Falls lie mostly on the Canadian side and the American Falls entirely on the American side, separated by Goat Island. The smaller Bridal Veil Falls are also located on the American side, separated from the other waterfalls by Luna Island.

Therefore Willamette Falls is the largest by volume fully contained in the U.S. (as it lies solely in the U.S.,Oregon to be exact).

Hope this helps,

Wendy
