Getting Lost

by Charlie
(Sydney)

I enjoyed watching the waterfall, though there was not much water on the day I went there.

It took me almost four hours to drive there from Sydney, which was not a good experience on that day. The reason could be that I possibly followed the wrong route I knew from the map attached above.

I used GPS to drive to Jones Road, Calga first. There I was told the waterfall was actually on the other side of the valley. Then I found that the link within the map above on this website led me to drive a long wasteful circle, which cost me almost two extra hours.

After consulting with a local in Central Coast, I finally drove to Somersby Falls Road, Somersby, where I found the waterfall.

I wrote all this in a hope that nobody else would make the same wasteful mistake as I did.

Good luck, everybody.

Apologies
by: World of Waterfalls

Hi Charlie,

It appears the map peg on Google Maps for this waterfall was misplaced. It was probably a case where I either went off my GPS waypoint marker while it didn't have good resolution at the time or it wasn't true to the coordinates that Google Maps used. It could even be that I wasn't zoomed in enough on Google Maps when I placed the map peg initially.

I've since moved the peg closer to the Somersby Falls Picnic area on Google Maps.

That said, the map pegs were meant to be general area guidelines and were not meant to be authoritative sources on the waterfall's exact location. If you catch errors, it's great you let us know so we can fix them. However, you do have to allow for a bit of error margin on these maps. We never advocated using our Google Maps work as authoritative map guides.
