Kahuna Falls

The impressive Kahuna Falls

There is an updated writeup of this waterfall on a different page, which you can read by
clicking here

Kahuna Falls is the overshadowed neighbor to the popular Akaka Falls.

I reckon this waterfall didn't get the same fanfare because of its position as the view is only limited to a severe angle where it only really shows up as an impressive waterfall when its waterflow is big enough to overshadow the trees growing on the cliffside in front of it. And that's too bad considering this waterfall sports similar dimensions as that of Akaka Falls with a 400ft drop.

To get to this waterfall, we had to walk an additional 800ft beyond Akaka Falls to its small overlook. We also managed to see this waterfall from the air, where it was quite apparent that this waterfall was certainly comparable to its more famous neighbor in terms of height and grandeur.

Directions: This waterfall shares the same car park and loop trail as Akaka Falls. See that page for details on how to drive here.
