Puu Ka Ele Falls (Pu'u Ka Ele Falls)

The remote and private Pu'u Ka Ele Falls

Puu Ka Ele Falls (or Pu'u Ka Ele Falls) was the waterfall that we landed at as part of a rather unique helicopter tour that Inter-Island Helicopters had offered during our December 2006 trip.

We spent quite a few minutes picnicking here and just chit chatting, but no one felt like going for a swim (though the pool looked real inviting).

Now, when I was doing research for the Hawaii Waterfalls book project (which is now defunct), the Department of Land and Natural Resources informed me that this waterfall technically sat on state land. So the tour company wasn't allowed to land there anymore and the adjacent landowner cancelled the contract with them. I wonder which other waterfall they land at for their unique helitour now?

Directions: Since this waterfall could only be visited as part of a helicopter tour, I'll punt you over to the
Manawaiopuna Falls page for directions to a helipad.
