Draugafoss

Draugafoss

Draugafoss (pronounced "DROY-guh-foss") looked like a very attractive waterfall nestled in a less touristy part of the northeast side of
Iceland. Unfortunately, I had trouble finding a proper car park and even more trouble trying to get closer for a better look at the falls. And as you can see from the photo above, I settled for the distant shot.

Directions: We went to this waterfall after leaving Reykjalið on the eastern shores of Mývatn due east along the Ring Road for 83km. That was when we junctioned with Road 85 and followed that road for another 84km.

As mentioned earlier, we had trouble finding a proper car park for this falls and ended up parking at some pullout with a deep gutter within view of the falls from the road.

During the long drive, we also got to see the attractive town and fjord Vopnafjörður as well as some attractive waterfall behind the turf farm at Bustarfell.
