Welcome to the World of Waterfalls Itineraries page. Within these pages, you can see the itineraries (or histories) that summarized our waterfalling trips. Hopefully, you'll find them useful for your own trip planning purposes, especially since we recognize that most waterfall-themed adventures tend to involve a fair degree of pre-planning and self-touring. Perhaps you can benefit from our lessons learned that we are making public through these pages.

This was a Thanksgiving weekend trip where we seized the moment and decided to turn a holiday into a trip to go some place that we knew would be on the bucket list (if not now, then certainly later in life). Northern California and Southern Oregon (7 Days)
[Oakhurst, CA]

This trip was the third installation of our trips to Northern California. We've also extended the drive to further north going into Southern Oregon allowing my parents their chance at seeing the sapphire blue Crater Lake for their very first time. This trip involved some repeats as well as new attractions. Once again, we were proving just how much we can accomplish within a span of only 7 days... [read more]

Redding and Tahoe (7 Days)

This trip was our follow-up to the previous introduction to Northern California. But in this case, we were on a mission to knock off as many bucket list waterfalls as possible in the state of California. And in doing so, we managed to visit waterfalls in some other unlikely places like Nevada as well as re-visit old haunts like Leavitt Falls. Among the highlights of this trip were Mt Shasta, Burney Falls, Mossbrae Falls, Lassen Volcanic, Emerald Bay of Lake Tahoe, Bassi Falls, and many others, which you can see how we were able to fit all this in on a week long trip by following this itinerary... Morgan Hill and Oroville (4 Days)

This trip was kind of our introduction to Northern California north of Sacramento in addition to checking out parts of the Bay Area that we hadn't gone waterfalling before. Among the highlights of this trip were Castle Rock, Sonoma, the South Yuba Independence Trail, and Feather Falls among others, which you can see how we were able to fit all this in on an extended long weekend by following this itinerary... Another Adventure in Julian (3 Days)

Legoland Weekend (2 Days)

This trip was sort of a make-up trip for Tahia, who was very sick when she went to Legoland with her cousins a couple of months prior. We also managed to sneak in a couple of waterfall hikes on the way home... [read more]

Eastern Sierra with Tahia (4 Days)

This trip was our daughter's first taste of the Eastern Sierra, but she also got to share her experiences with the kids from another family whom we joined on this weekend excursion. Santa Barbara Follow-up (2 Days)

Onion Valley Backpack (4 Days)
[Independence, CA]

This trip involved a popular backcountry route from Onion Valley to Kearsarge Pass while spending a couple of nights near Matlock Lake. Like with other backpacking trips in the Eastern Sierra, we roughed it for two nights and spent a total of four days to encompass all the logistics, shown in the link above... [read more]

Yosmite Firefall and Mariposa Grove (3 Days)
[Yosemite West, CA]

This was the trip where we targeted the famous firefall phenomenon. We also took it as an opportunity for our daughter to experience a very special part of California as she was getting older and more aware of her surroundings. Lake Sabrina Backpack (4 Days)

Tahia's First Time in Yosmite (4 Days)

Eastern Sierra Non Backpack (3 Days)

Yosemite Weekend with the Parents (3 Days)

This trip was with the family as well as a guest from Taiwan. It pertained to pretty much a repeat visit to the familiar sights of Yosemite's most accessible spots, but we did include a grueling hike to the top of Yosemite Falls, which is summarized in the itinerary in the link above. [read more]

Sequoia and Kings Canyon Camping Weekend (3 Days)

Yosemite High Country (4 Days)

Yosemite Glen Aulin Backpacking (3 Days)

Southern Yosemite Redux (4 Days)

Yosemite Photo Run with Mom (3 Days)

Yosemite Half Dome (3 Days)

This was the trip that Julie and I had been preparing for by going on as many hikes as we could earlier in the year. Sequoia and Kings Canyon in Early Spring (3 Days)

This trip marked our first trip to the joint National Parks of Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Being the travel newbies that we were, we initiated ourselves to these understated parks within a weekend (and minimal time taken off work). [read more]

Eastern Sierra Initiation (3 Days)

This trip exposed Julie and I to the Mammoth Lakes area outside of the ski season for the first time. Little did we realize that from this point forward, we wound up only coming here in the Summer as opposed to the Winter. This was our first trip up to Big Sur along with its waterfalls and incredible coastal scenery. Big Island Weekend (5 Days)

Kauai Initiation (8 Days)

This trip was our second overall trip to the Hawaiian Islands, but first trip to the Garden Isle of Kaua'i. This was a trip where we used a visit to relatives in Dallas as an excuse to visit waterfalls in the Southern Plains States during Spring Break. Great Lakes (15 Days)

This two-week trip was our introduction to waterfalling the Midwest, especially around the Great Lakes.
