La Cascada del Rio Paine (or more accurately Cascada del Río Paine) is really more notable for its position before the scenic Paine Massif than it is as a waterfall. That's because the cascade itself could easily be construed as rapids as the Paine River or Río Paine is squeezed into a narrow rocky stretch where it turbulently tumbles and twists its way into calmer waters. There's an unsigned pullout nearby an informal lookout to gaze upon the cascade and picturesque skyline. There's no way to get closer to the cascade safely.UPDATE 28-02-2008: *sigh* Sometimes you end up missing out on what you're looking for whether it's by haste or misinformation. In any case, we missed the real cascade as apparently we didn't go far enough north on the road. To see a picture of what we should've seen, click here.
