Salto Chico is a small but powerful waterfall nestled beneath the pricey and exclusive Explora en Patagonia Lodge. The hideous building next to the waterfall is a hydroelectric contraption to help supply the neighboring lodge with power. Regardless of what is being done to the falls, which drains Lago Pehoé, there's no denying the scenic location in which both the falls and the lodge are located. With commanding views across the lake of the Paine Massif and Los Cuernos del Paine over the aqua-bluegreen glacial lake, it's easy to get lost in thought here simply staring at the falls, feeling the Patagonian winds, and listening to the falls thunderously tumbling towards calmer waters.
