Hidden Falls is a gushing 20m or 25m that I reckon got its name from the fact that it's mostly hidden from view the main track (we had to take a very muddy and slippery spur track to get a view of it). The falls required a pretty long 5-6 hours of hiking along the Hollyford Track. And as you can see from the photos on this page, we can attest to the fact that it's certainly doable as a day hike, but most people overnight at the nearby Hidden Falls Hut as part of the multi-day Hollyford Track.
But even with the long physical and time commitment, we found the mostly flat tramp to be very pleasant as it contained varied scenery and even reminded me of hiking the Arthur Valley section of the Milford Track, especially considering how lush the track alongside the Hollyford River was. Heck it even had its own little "Gentle Annie" boardwalk section of track above a bog.
When we visited this falls, it seemed like it had very high volume, which produced a lot of spray. This made photographing the falls difficult, but more importantly, it really muddied up the spur track allowing us to get a view of it. Not only was the mud deep in places but it also made for extremely slippery footing on the smooth boulders along the streambed. I even took a nasty spill here that almost knocked me out as I managed to hit my cheek on one of the rocks (so be VERY careful here).
Directions: Hidden Falls sits roughly 6km I think into the Hollyford Track. The start of the track is located at the end of the Lower Hollyford Road, which is unsealed, but very tame. This road leaves the Milford Hwy (SH94) about 89km north of Te Anau.
