McLaren Falls was once an impressive raging waterfall before its flow was restricted for hydroelectric purposes. These days, the falls flows like its normal self only when it rains heavily or on one of the 26 weekends where water is released to let daring kayakers or canoers run the whitewater.
The falls has been used as a swimming hole during low flow. However, the steep path to these pools contains fatal drop offs. Be aware that people have been killed here before trying to access the pools even though plenty of others have safely accessed the pools.
