Waterfalls galore in Hordaland county - a region that contains a gorgeous mix of glaciers (such as Folgefonna), snowy mountain plateaus (such as Hardangervidda), and fjords (such as Hardangerfjorden, Eidfjorden, and Sørfjorden). Given the abundance of melting snow from the lofty elevations of Folgefonna and Hardangervidda, it's no wonder why this county has one of the highest concentrations of major waterfalls in the country! One of the more famous places to see waterfalls is the so-called Valley of Waterfalls (Oddadalen). Here, you can find at least 5 of them in a short stretch, namely Espelandsfossen, Låtefossen, Vidfoss, Strondsfossen, and Tjørnadalsfossen. This county is also home to one of the most famous and popular waterfalls in Norway - Vøringsfossen. It also has one of the easiest waterfalls that you can walk behind in Steinsdalsfossen, which was also a favorite of Kaiser Wilhelm. Finally in the northern boundaries of Hordaland, there is a pair of waterfalls (Stalheimsfossen and Sivlefossen) watching over Stalheimskleiva, a steep and sinuous road that faces the steep walls of Nærøydalen in Sogn og Fjordane county. The main city in this county is Bergen. Featuring colorful seafront homes lined up against each other, a bustling wharf, and a history and charm that reminds me of San Fransisco, Bergen is one of the most charming coastal cities in the world. Still, the waterfalls command most of the attention in this county. You could very well find yourself overwhelmed by the sheer number of them.
