Kvernhusfossen is an attractive waterfall that watches over the quiet yet charming town of Mo (pronounced "MOO"). The falls was said to tumble some 230m over a cliff backing the town. It was visible from various spots around town and from the road. And despite the foul weather we were having during our brief visit here, I reckon the setting was quite idyllic. Apparently, we could've spent a little more time here because if we did, we probably would've noticed that there was yet another waterfall in the area called Hellandsfossen. It was a regulated 34m waterfall where the country's largest salmon ladder existed, and it was only 5km east of Mo. Maybe next time... Directions: Getting to Mo from the E16 required a lengthy drive along Rv569, which can be a scary stretch of road as most of it is narrow and nearly single-lane supporting bi-directional traffic. After passing by Hesjedalsfossen and the Stigfossen/Fjellfossen tandem, we came across a mountain through a long and dark tunnel before ending up in Modalen, where the falls and the nearby township reside.
