Reppdalsfossen (I've also seen it referred to as Reppdalsfallet) is one of three major waterfalls converging on the community of Åmotan (apparently meaning "converging of the rivers"). It looked like it was cascading in a pair of twisting slanted ramps over about a height of 180m before eventually joining the river Grøva. As far as we were concerned, this was the easiest of the three waterfalls here to see. And like the other falls, I've read that it's protected so I believe the flow of watercourse is reliable and year-round. I've also read that Åmotan is also home to some rare native plants (e.g. the Dovre poppy and the Norwegian wormwood) as well as some old mining relics, and some idyllic farms (e.g. Jenstad). Directions: To get to Åmotan, we drove east on Rv70 about 35km from Sunndalsøra. We then turned off Rv70 onto a county road near the community of Gjøra. At about 4km from Rv70, the county road encountered a fork where we turned left (avoiding the bridge up ahead; see the Svøufossen page to see where that went). At that point, the county road climbed up to the Jenstad farm where there were a couple of toll car parks. We were able to see Reppdalsfossen right from the second car park, but we did get a closer look by walking part of the trail (for just a few minutes) to the bottom of Svøufossen.
