When it flows, Double Falls is a surprisingly graceful waterfall that (true to its name) falls on top of another. The upper tier falls in profile to the observer on the trail before the stream twists and falls over the much taller tier. It has a cumulative height of 178ft though its entirety is probably best seen from the Trail of Ten Falls junction with this spur (even though the views are somewhat obstructed by foliage). The quick 0.1-mile spur to get closer to the falls lets you feel its spray. This waterfall is also very close to Lower North Falls so if you're waterfall-fatigued as we were on our Silver Falls State Park excursion, then this makes a nice way to end the day.
We managed to walk all the way to this waterfall (in the rain), which is about 1.2 miles each way (2.4 miles round trip). It sits just upstream from the Lower North Falls.
Directions: We hiked to this waterfall from the car park for Winter Falls. See that page for driving directions.
