Sacred Dancing Cascade

Sacred Dancing Cascade

Sacred Dancing Cascade, I believe, pertains to the wide river waterfall we saw just upstream from a footbridge spanning the McDonald Creek. Even though there were more rapids and cascades further upstream of this falls (with additional viewing platforms), I'm pretty confident that it's the waterfall pictured at the top of this page that is being referred to. This is further reinforced by the fact that the name of the falls isn't even plural.

Anyways, like McDonald Falls, this is pretty much a roadside waterfall though it did require a short two-minute walk to get from the large pullout/car park to the footbridge with the frontal view of the cascade. Further east on the Going-to-the-Sun Road, there were more pullouts and viewing decks of more bland cascades and rapids, and I'd imagine that since there weren't any signs identifying one waterfall from the next that this would be the source of a lot of confusion for waterfallers.

In any case, I did mark GPS waypoints and compared it to my Topo! map to confirm that I did indeed identify this waterfall correctly.

Directions: The pullout for Sacred Dancing Cascade is less than a half-mile east of the pullout for McDonald Falls. See the McDonald Falls page for more details.
