Uru's Waterfall

Fijians enjoying Uru's Waterfall

Uru's Waterfall (or Urus Waterfall) is an interesting roadside waterfall that we noticed the local villagers like to use as a swimming hole. It tumbles down multiple smaller tiers with pools at the base of each tier. Visiting this waterfall was supposed to be very straightforward and easy as there was an easy-to-follow trail behind a gate right off the road. However, nobody was attending the gate so a local Fijian boy actually showed me a way to scramble underneath the road bridge and to the bottom of the falls.

It wasn't the easiest scramble (as it was slippery in spots though I was amazed that the villager was able to do it barefoot), but the boy did help me with choosing the proper route. Otherwise, I wasn't sure I would've known or even tried this scramble.

Directions: This waterfall is on the Kings Road about 14km north of Korovou (or about 43km north of Nausori or about 69km north of Suva). The road was unsealed a short distance past either Nausori or near Korovou (I don't recall), but it was easily driven by our passenger 2wd car hire (though I had read in the past that the King's Road had potholes so large than even cows would dodge them). The falls tumbles right beneath a bridge on the Kings Road, and there was a pullout where we left the car a few paces west of that bridge.
