Undine Falls tumbles over 100ft in a series of three shorter drops. This is one of the easier waterfalls to see as it's right off the Grand Loop Road (see driving directions below) and there's a car park where you can enjoy the top-down view.
I don't think there's a safe way to get to the base of this waterfall, but I have read that there's a nontrivial walk and scramble to see another waterfall (albeit smaller) further downstream called Lower Undine Falls. We didn't try anything else besides the roadside view so we can't really say anything more about it.
As for its flow, apparently the show goes on from Spring through Autumn. When the harsh winter arrives, I'd bet Lava Creek (on which this waterfall flows) probably gets frozen solid.
I think the creek might have gotten its name from its geologic history where the creek once flowed through softer more shale-like terrain before a lava flow transformed the creek's flow path and eventually eroded into the harder rock essentially making this waterfall.
Directions: You can appreciate the scene from a roadside pullout along the Grand Loop Road about 4 miles east of Mammoth.
