Portugal Waterfalls
Portugal Waterfalls were scattered throughout the mainland of the country as it was surprisingly more mountainous than I had thought prior to visiting it.
However, after having extensively done the grand tour of most of the the country’s mainland, I guess it shouldn’t be surprising anymore that this country does harbor a lot of waterfalls (contradicting my pre-conceived notions of Mediterranean countries tending to be as dry and temperamental as our home state of California).
Nevertheless, the very edge of the Iberian Peninsula also meant that the Portuguese looked westwards towards the vast expanses of the ocean, and thus we’re also including the Azores Archipelago as part of this country’s region, especially since domestic flights between the islands and the mainland are pretty common.
Like how we do all of our waterfall write-ups, we share just about everything we know or have learned about our experiences. Indeed, for each waterfall we’ve visited, we provide detailed descriptions, driving directions, maps, photos, videos, and nearby attractions, among others. Therefore, you can leverage our knowledge or firsthand experiences for your own vacation or trip plans.
We definitely felt like we don’t have an exhaustive survey of waterfalls in Portugal, but we have certainly seen quite a variety of them.
I’m sure if we’re fortunate to have a return trip, we’ll try to hit up the waterfalls that we didn’t get to do on our first go around.
In any case, have a look at our sampling of the Portugal Waterfalls – both on the mainland as well as on the Azores.
