Oregon and Southern Washington Summer Follow-up Itinerary (5 Days)

This itinerary was a follow-up to the Oregon trip that we had taken about 5-6 months earlier. After Mother Nature kind of threw a wrench into our plans back then, we felt compelled to just narrow down a repeat visit to Oregon and Southern Washington focusing on those very things we weren't able to do the first time around. What was surprising about this follow-up trip to the Pacific Northwest was that the Summer weather was scorching (think high 90s), which contrasted our earlier trip that where the highs were in the 50s and 60s with nearly constant precipitation (or at least the threat of it when it wasn't raining or snowing).

As you can see from the itinerary below, it turned out that Oregon was compact enough (at least in the north-south direction) that we were able to pull this trip off in an extended weekend. This further reinforced the notion in our minds that a lot could be accomplished in an extended weekend (as opposed to a big home run trip, which in my mind happens too infrequently). The key was to mentally get over the inertia of inconvenience and get psyched up for the possibilities of what can happen when you allow yourself to get out of the comfort zone and see what happens next...
