This trip was really about letting Tahia enjoy herself at Legoland for her birthday.
I tried to be opportunistic about using this trip to visit a couple of waterfalls that we hadn’t done before, but given the dry Winters that we had been having in several consecutive years, even recent rains couldn’t really bring them back in time for this trip.
In any case, we’ve put together this itinerary page to show you what can be done in a short weekend trip like this.

Trip Highlights
Legoland – the primary purpose of this weekend was to celebrate Tahia’s birthday with a visit to Legoland and even staying in the Legoland Hotel. The waterfalls were secondary. So you can imagine with as much strong themes in this park why this place was a hit with her and just about any other kid this age.
Travel Itinerary
Day 1: Drive from Los Angeles to Carlsbad
Overnight: Legoland Hotel (Carlsbad, California, USA)
We drove to Legoland in the morning, which allowed us to spend the better part of the day letting Tahia play at Legoland. In the evening, that was when her imagination really went wild as we spent the night at the Legoland Hotel.
Day 2: Jack Creek Falls and San Juan Falls on the way home.
This was a day where we drove home after checking out of Legoland. Along the way, we visited the Jack Creek Falls and the San Juan Falls. But in both cases, the falls were barely a trickle due to the prolonged drought despite some rain that had fallen a few days prior.
