After staying overnight at Home Hill Beach House at Kingston Beach, take the short drive to the village of Snug. The road to the falls is signed. The bitumen runs out after about 3km so you need to be comfortable with gravel roads.
From the car park it is another 500 meters walk to the start of the walking track. Do use the car park as the road near the track head is very narrow.
The track descends gently all the way to Snug Falls. It takes most people about 30 minutes. The riverbed boulders provide a good lunch spot. No one lives upstream so the water is clean, although a little brown from the natural tannins from the Buttongrass moorlands on the plateau above.
Back to the car to continue your Huon Valley Escape…Next stop is Grandvewe Sheep Cheesery, then via Cygnet to Huon Bush Retreats for the second walk of the day. This time to Mount Misery, via rainforest and sub alpine heathland. There is a small waterfall here also. Hidden in a narrow rainforest gully, Hidden Falls is accessed by a 5km interpreted walking track that at one point passes right through the middle of an enormous hollow tree.
