This Bear Creek Falls is the one south of Telluride, Colorado.
The falls are reached by a long hike on Bear Creek Trail with steep elevation gain.
Views can be had of the San Sophia range to the north from the trail and some cascades on a tributary to Bear Creek to the east.
Some other waterfalls without requiring much or any hiking in closer vicinity to town are Cornet Creek Falls, Ingram Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls, the tallest single drop waterfall in the state.
Best time to view the falls for peak water flow may be in late spring or early summer though the creek flows year round.
