I had some time to kill while staying at Camp Curry & this fall’s stream ran right by my cabin.
Following the river with the late winter moss covered rocks & orange leaves was treat enough as the hike became a bit of an ascent to the base of the falls.
The slippery non-trail (more a directional choice) led me to the snowpacked water landing off the granite cliff. A beautiful display of nature.
But then I turned around. The valley was in proud if a little overcast glory. The base of the falls is above the valley treeline so it’s all there for you to see.
From Half Dome to Yosemite Falls & all points between.
This fall is a bit shortchanged I think judging by what I’ve read about it. An amazing reward for a nice little jaunt up the rocks.
