Sugarloaf Ridge State Park was always one of my favorite parks to visit. There are quite a few miles of hiking trails that are well worth visiting and hiking.
And the park had deer.
One hike, I was walking thru the morning fog and suddenly 2 deer appeared out of the fog.
The most favorite thing about the park is the waterfall. The sounds of waterfalls are so soothing and this waterfall is too.
Before I switched to hiking in water sandals, I was there with my kids and we took off our shoes and waded in to the “pool” where the water came down. A bit cool, but not chilling like Oneonta Falls in Oregon.
When we got out, my youngest daughter asked me about my red footprints. It turns out I had sliced the bottom of my foot which gave me bloody footprints.
My kids and I always enjoyed coming here because on the way home we would stop at the Happy Dog, a fast food joint in Sonoma.
