These falls are just upriver (south) from Bear Creek Falls on the Million Dollar Highway, or highway 550, between Ouray and Silverton, not far south from Ouray.
The falls pass through a rock tunnel beneath the Million Dollar highway as it is also known.
The confluence of Red Mountain Creek with the Uncompahgre River is just below the falls.
The Uncompahgre Gorge parallels the highway with sheer drop offs the rest of the trip north to Ouray from this point, with a highway tunnel on this route between Bear Creek Falls and Ouray.
There is a small area for some parking at the falls, not marked, on either sides of the highway, with the Alpine Loop four wheel drive road turn at this intersection with highway 550 on the east side of the highway.
The falls are closeby west of the highway.
You may also get a brief view the falls from the highway if you are coming from Ouray to the north travelling south towards Silverton.
