Joyce and I approached this waterfall from the south via Masterton, where we had camped after a rough crossing from South Island,(other passengers were using the paper bags).
I remember Johnny & Julie had a similar crossing a few months earlier.
While driving from Masterton we passed through a lot of sheep country, but while stock movements were in progress, as indicated by the single traffic cones in the middle of the quiet road, we were not lost in a sea of sheep.
We had used “New Zealand Waterfalls“, when planning our holiday, but this was a visit resulting from our own research. We did not know about the slippery path to the base of the falls, and consequently were not looking out for it. We did not find it, but I do recall some new steps at the bottom of the slope.
Has someone in NZ been acting on Johnny’s comments?
Also for the record we noted a piped water supply at the picnic area, which we had to ourselves.
