The viewing site makes for a very scenic location with a view of the falls, the Animas River, the Mayflower Mill, surrounding mountains, the canyon, and overlook all from the same location.
Two miles east of Silverton on the south side of the road find the large parking area with path and descriptive placard on the history of the Mayflower Mill, which can be seen at a distance further up the road going east and upstream on the north side of the Animas River.
The falls are directly across from the viewing area plunging down the forested slope on the south side of the river.
The Mayflower Mill was declared a National Historic Site in 2000.
