Waterfall Safety and Common Sense

Kalamina Falls was a tiny seasonal waterfall sitting at the head of the Kalamina Gorge in Karijini National Park.

I recalled that the falls itself tok us only a brief 5-minute walk from the car park at the top of the gorge to the depths of the gorge where we were able to get the photo you see at the top of this page.

We only visited this waterfall then went back up to the car park.

I tended to think of this place as more of a swimming hole, but we were running short on time and didn’t linger here for long.

If we had more time on our hands, I wanted to partake in a much longer hike (about 3km in each direction or 3 hours return) within the depths of the Kalamina Gorge.

That hike ultimately would have led us to an attractive Rock Arch and pool.

Perhaps that was the greater attraction of this particular gorge.

One of these days, I hope to come back here and actually do this hike knowing that we should spend at least 2 nights in Paraburdoo or Tom Price so we could have at least an entire day in Karijini National Park.
